The rock wall at the entrance of the Ballina Heights Estate has finally been repaired! Residents have been waiting for several years for this rock wall to be fixed and finally we can all celebrate that it has been restored!
Several years ago a car crashed into the rock wall destroying it's central portion. There was much debate over whose responsibility it was to fix the rock wall - the developers or the Council or the insurance of the person who was involved in the accident? Despite much investigations as well as residents writing personally to Ballina Shire Council to seek support to resolve this incident, as well as the CRA liaising with the Ballina Shire Council regarding the fixing of the rock wall, it still took a very long time to get some action happening in this regard. Finally, in late 2025 the Ballina Shire Council advised that they would fix the wall, and now in the last week of January 2026 the rock wall has finally been repaired.
The rock wall being broken and left unattended for so long has been a sore spot for many residents, especially as it has been at the entrance of the estate and has been somewhat a symbol of how neglected the estate has been, as voiced by many residents in the area. Many residents have further voiced that it seems strange that we would need to 'fight' for such simple things as repairs, upkeep and maintenance of the estate (which really should be standard) and meanwhile, rates keep increasing without any improvements to the basic standards.
And whilst there is indeed a truth to this, we still stand together in this moment to celebrate that this rock wall has now been restored - it is like a fresh breath of air and so appreciated by the residents of the area as well as the CRA. Thank you!
